Please note with equipment of this nature; it is vitally important to take into account cooling of the system both with the intake and on extraction of air. This brings us back to our early statement of old that poor intake and exhaust through flow – systems built by specialist high-end System Integrators are the best port of call! They really should be you first thoughts when ordering magnificent beasts of this nature.

Hardware Suppliers for the Review

The FireGL V7350 Cards came courtesy of ATI and may also be purchased from Man and Machine UK. CPU paste and a majority of the components making up systems 2 and 3 sourced from Akasa UK . AMD for the supply of the new AMD Opteron 180 and finally Intel and ATI for the complete Test System 4. Therefore our thanks to all for making this an interesting but exciting review

Systems Integrators, OEM’s and VAR’s should contact both companies directly for pricing and availability of all components. Members of the public should contact their respective suppliers requesting the parts directly from Akasa UK, Boston and Man and Machine.

Diskeeper can be purchased from most leading Distributors and software retail outlets. Or those of you wishing a try before buy, a 30 day trial version maybe downloaded direct from www.diskeeper.com

This review was severely hampered by time constraints and constant driver updates which did mean readdressing the results. This did mean at all times we have seen improvements and showed just how much emphasis ATI have placed in getting the driver release ready with the key focus upon getting results for both the day of launch and product release. This though shall give the reader an indication at what to expect of things to come.

Software and Benchmarks (32 Bit Mode)

Blah Blah Blah. The plethora of benchmarks available in this arena; one could spend all day in producing results, paralysis by analysis! By no stretch of the imagination is this instance no different - get yourself a cup of coffee and doughnut as there are plenty here to keep you going. If you cannot fully make out the charts and visuals which we have shown below, please e-mail – reviews at 3d professor dot com and we shall send over in priority of receipt the picture you are looking for. To maintain the fair play rules we have not manipulated any of the mainboards overclocking facilities just to see how fast this board is at the default settings. But we did leave the memory timing of the MSI boards too aggressive as other players in this field have the same hidden options already enabled.

As you can imagine this has taken a substantial amount of time to compile carefully check the results from all the runs. To further improve and maintain optimal hard disk performance throughout we utilised before each Benchmark / Software application was run the system had all the temporary folders and logs dumped with the drives completely defragged using the latest version (Build 593) of Diskeeper 10 Professional Premier Edition which incorporates its new I-FAAST technology. This product comes with it an array of functions and features which will help the professional in the field – most importantly the speed in which files are now stored and recovered. When we cover Paxville and the MSI Diamond Plus we will dig into the depths of this new version of this software so that you can readily understand it superb features which it has to offer. The system was rebooted and the applications and tests run from fresh. We have tried many other versions of disk defragmenters but still come back always to Diskeeper and the power in which it maintains a high system integrity during operations of this case sensitive nature.

To complete all of the above tests on the system has taken some considerable time. The benchmarks were each run several times with each driver release to ensure that no anomalies or discrepancies were to be seen. All tests have been conducted at 1280 X 1024 @ 70Hz in 32 bit colour.

Many of the tests results we have grabbed screen shot captures of the final results these again can be obtained by e-mail – reviews at 3d professor dot com. But for the die hard graph analysts, we decided on this outing to present them in this format just for you! But the infamous saying a picture paints a thousand words saves us from huge volumes of additional script which really just takes up more time and space on the webpage.
