System Build Pictures

Therefore with our introduction completed and what of how does it fit within the system chassis of a standard build system utilising a commonplace workstation mainboard.  We took out our new mainstay test system supporting Supermicro's X8DAi mainboard and Intel's® Xeon® W5580 Nehalem EP® for a fresh airing as this will be what many S.I.'s and OEM's will be using now.  The only exception being the enterprise SSD's from Intel as normally, until costs drop a WD VelociRaptor in most instances will be the host boot disc.   However, with Western Digitals recent announcement and acquisition of  SiliconSystems, their SSD units and superb technology, things are bound to change very rapidly in the forth coming months.  For now its a case of watching these spaces and lets see what comes next.   But for now this is a severe spanner thrown well into the mix that will rattle a few cages.    Should the major players be worried, if anything to go by on Western Digitals current aggressive builds - then yes they should.
