BOXX 3DBOXX 8550 Xtreme

Conclusions and Award

This has to have been the most exciting Parts Built System we have tested in a long time.   Generally on looking into review systems they are very well built, though this is an extraordinary unit with the grunt to push things to the extreme – hence the reasoning for the 3DBOXX 8550 marketed name.   Importantly the BOXX brushed aluminium chassis looks the part and will sit under many a desk and not look out of place as part of the furnishings, an important point in today’s fine studio’s where many key customers and new clients come and go.   Image is everything within the studio.

The actual system performance from the I/O was what we had anticipated.  Extremely fast indeed as the Sandra 2011 System Cryptography result is now currently the fastest we have ever achieved.  Whilst to slightly deviate this unit can be upgraded in many ways in the original build and those looking for the high speed boot should look to putting into place an enterprise SSD.   When you are spending monies of this nature, costing will be high but those who will require the ultimate in performance then this is an exceptional option.    Therefore although we have seen extremely fast results from within, there is room to make things faster at the clients request.   The render speed results from the recent release of POV-Ray and Cinebench 11.5 most certainly are very fast indeed and the BOXX system did almost half some of our current results and these are extremely quick indeed.    One has unequivocal evidence that this standalone unit has the power  to meet the most demanding clients high expectations of a fast output.

To emphasise how fast is fast the Nvidia Quadro® 6000 with the BOXX 8550 Xtreme is within Cinebench 11.5,

The results obtained from the SPECapc’ s and SPECviewperf are without doubt the fastest we have produced, the Nvidia Quadro’s excelled on this platform.  Whilst the Quadro 4000 returned some pretty impressive results, it is without doubt that the Nvidia Quadro 6000 romped away demonstrating its raw power.  It’s almost as if the mainboard was built for it.   Both these the professional graphic card’s from Nvidia performed well above everyone's expectations returning results from the SPEC tests some very impressive results.   Within SPECapc for SolidWorks 2007™ we witnessed what has to have been the fastest results to date by Nvidia’s Quadro® 6000 in both the “Day in the Life” result and the actual SPEC Graphic’s score.

Within SPECviewperf 11, astonishing to say the least, Maya-03 running away at 115.97 and swiftly following this up was the SW-02 score of 65.79 which backed up fully the SPECapc for SolidWorks results.  The Quadro® 6000 just cannot be caught with its unprecedented performance as the complete full FSAA run fully demonstrated the desired scaled composite results all the way down to 64X FSAA.   Will we see faster, only time will tell.  Each of the professional cards from Nvidia went well beyond our expectations.
