Corsair Survivor GT USB Flash Memory Drive Review

Benchmarks

An hour later and back in the office the Corsair Survivor GT was properly dried off and then put to the test!   We eagerly waited with baited breath to see if it had survived all of the previous tests at the yard.   Windows found the USB Drive straight away and within seconds had the drive ready for use in the system.

So putting it to test we ran HD Tach 3.0.1 Journalists edition to see what sort of results it would return and the results shown below speak resoundingly for themselves.

HD Tach 3.0.1.0 Short Test

HD Tach 3.0.1.0 Long Test

HD Tach 3.0.1.0 Full Test

To cross compare the HD Tach results we utilised SiSoftware 2007 with SP1

In the “in house” tests we saw the following

F       6 Seconds to transfer of 92.1mb of .bmp files onto the disc

F       1 Minute 20 seconds for 730MB of various .doc, .excel, .pdf and jpeg files onto the
disc.   Taking only a total of 7 seconds completely delete all of the above data stored.

F       Transfer of SPEC 9.0.3 and SPEC 10, SPECapc 3DSMax 8 and SPECapc SW 2007
test files (1.79GBs of data) taking only 2 minutes and 38 seconds to complete.

Quite a remarkable feat from the drive.

Conclusions.

It has to be said that this is a Flash Disc that no Project Manager or the likes should be without.   People from this walk of life or someone who transports data and wander onsite to any form of hazardous conditions that may at risk of losing their precious data; seriously they should not be without one!   It could save so many embarrassing situations from occurring.

The size of the USB Drive also means you know it’s in your pocket and weighing in at 60 grams or 2 ounces you certainly know its there at all times.   One point of note and does add a cool additional feature; when the USB drive is at work a nice blue neon light can be seen flashing away just adding to that fine professional construction.

The performance of the Corsair Survivor GT is extremely good and has bountiful capacity.   The benchmarks shown above highlight its constant adroitness in read; and in write.   It is no mean feat to achieve.   However Corsair has remarkably achieved this.

Passing thoughts must be flying through some readers mind – was there a residual smell.  Sorry folks but after the wipe down in those famous baby wipes it is nice and fresh and smells nothing like it did at some points in the live tests!
