EXCLUSIVE - DISKEEPER 2008

With this test normally one would be looking for the actual composite output results, but as timing of the full test here is relevant with the implementation of Diskeeper in stages 2 and 3 we have taken the total time to complete the test.   So in this instance lower times are faster.

Total time to complete SPECapc for 3ds Max™ 9  Benchmark (3 run pass) without any hard drive defragmentation tool enabled– 79 Minutes & 25 Seconds in DX Driver.   In OpenGL sector; Total time to complete the test was 83 Minutes and 20 Seconds

  Benchmark (3 run pass) with Diskeeper® 2007 hard drive defragmentation enabled – 77 Minutes & 28 seconds in DX Driver.   In OpenGL sector; Total time to complete the test was 79 Minutes and 42 Seconds

  Benchmark (3 run pass) with Diskeeper® 2008 hard drive defragmentation fully enabled – 74 Minutes & 58 Seconds in DX driver. In OpenGL sector; Total time to complete test was 77 Minutes and 24 Seconds

A substantial improvements across the board, biggest improvement overall with Diskeeper 2008 installed on a fresh system.   Therefore what we see here is;
  • From fragmentation to 2007 a saving of 1 minute and 57 seconds in DX & under OpenGL a saving of 3 minute and 38 seconds
  •  From 2007 – 2008 a further saving of 2 minutes and 30 seconds in DX and OpenGL 2 minutes and 18 seconds.
  • The biggest saving on a fresh installation is to be seen with 2008 on a clean drive of 4 minutes and 27 seconds in DX and finally in OpenGL 5 minutes and 56 seconds

The final results shown are from the first run of each of the set-ups IAW SPEC fairplay rules.   The misconception that the average over 2 or 3 runs and the best figures are completely inaccurate as many seem to think.  A complete run_all tests completing the multisampling and multithreading tests takes an approximate 4 hours to complete.   Therefore what we see is an extremely accurate set of returned results.   Although minor points gains in many areas across the board each gained X.X point are in higher circles valuable scoring patterns and mean more sales to the resellers as corporate buying patterns are heavily based upon these results shown.

With these tests completed lets move onto some more well known synthetic benchmarks that most readers rely heavily upon.
