AMD FireGL V5600 Introduction

AMD’s new FireGL V5600, the mid range professional graphics card from the recently announced collection of new cards from their elite stable of professional cards. What does it have to offer, in following suit we have to keep this simple but effective with the main salient points as by now many of you will have read up on what the card can do.

§         350-Watt power supply or greater (assumes fully loaded system)
§         PCI Express® based workstation with available x16 lane graphics slot
§         512MB of system memory
§         Installation software requires CD-ROM drive

As the FireGL V5600 is “sort of” replacing the FireGL V7200 at the lower end of the Mid Range professional graphic’s card arena. Remember we still have to see the FireGL V7600 yet; which is strategically aimed at the top end of the Mid Range professional graphic’s card arena. AMD have been extremely clever in the positioning of this new range of cards. In most areas 2 Cards at each level, and so far the cards shown here have excelled in raw performance across the board. Over the next few weeks we will be seeing the additional cards in the range. Its going to be very interesting.
