Exclusive - AMD FireGL V3600

First thing that readers will have noticed is entry level card has no requirement for a separate power connector from the PSU to supplement the PCI Express Rail.   We cannot comment yet on the power supply requirements of the other cards as we have not seen these yet.   Some of you will have noted the reduction in memory interface and bandwidth, a possible concern you may right say.   Though read on and you will see that the clever manufacture and build of this new range of FireGL cards produce some amazing results.

Today we get the chance of looking at the new entry level card the FireGL V3600.   When we were first advised of this new card arrival here and what it had hidden up its sleeve we decided to put it against the more powerful mid range card the FireGL V7200 with a 256 bit controller and 41.6GB/s memory bandwidth and see if the claims held up.   A 128 Bit controller v 256 Bit and 16GB/s Bandwidth v 41.6GB/s this will be interesting set of tests as the new FireGL V3600 has on specification sheets half of its more powerful elder!
