Intel® Core™ i7-980X Processor Extreme Edition

Conclusions and Award

This has been without a doubt an exceptional day of reckoning for Intel as each major component has performed impeccably.    Within the whole article each company who supplied equipment for today, should be extremely pleased with the overall performance of their parts shown.  Significantly Intel with the technology upgrade to 32nm process and all the added new instructions.  We see from within the AES encryption and decryption algorithms have dramatically improved 4 to 5 times faster than previously witnessed.   Therefore many will be scrambling quickly to embrace this new technology making safer your online transactions and within the corporate environment making internal encryption of files etc so much easier.  We should see no excuses now of poor encryption as the power to make it faster and more secure has been readily presented.

Though lets first start with the new 3.33GHz Intel® Core™ i7-980X Processor Extreme Edition CPU from Intel.   The stock level supply of the CPU and cooler are very good indeed. Intel's own stock CPU cooler gives you 2 options of "quiet" and "performance" for those of you wishing to overclock.  Its simple to set-up, and for the complete beginner the bios really does it all for you so within minutes you will have a complete high-speed system ready to install your required operating system.   The unequivocal evidence shown within proves just how much raw performance is hidden under the hood.   Therefore for those of you wishing a new build - then look no further as Intel has done the job for you, so dig out from the mattresses those hard earned monies.  Its time to buy.

Previously we uttered the voice of choice.  Today you all have witnessed a remarkable set of choices and at a price to suit all pockets.  We have totally been in awe at just how much performance increase has been made across the scale from each company, notwithstanding the raw power of Intel's Intel® Core™ i7-980X solution driving forth the astonishing results seen within.   Remarkable to say the least.  It has to be reiterated once more, today's modern studio's, Soho's and general users want fast, they need fast.  So fast is what they get.   There will be many analysis’s who claim all to be much too expensive - but not so as the proof of the results within has been shown to be indisputable.

Its also worth noting that when we completed a few months back upon OCZ's Vertex SSD we thought then that the results shown were fast.  Fast indeed they have been.  Today's performance has utterly blown them all away with the combined force of all the components here.  With this in mind its well worth a revisit to this and see just how well the SSD will run on the X58 mainboard with the previous generation of the i7 3.33GHz CPU.

Benchmarks and applications results shown within are extremely good, who would ever think that such tiny items would produce such remarkable scores.  Rendering, Ray Tracing and large model reads will benefit without doubt from the SSD's oh yeah tiny beasts of burden.  With Microsoft Windows 7 maturing now, support of the equipment within the article will make a huge difference over what has been shown here today.

Within many previous articles we stipulated, fast is good, we want fast.  Extreme fast is what we most certainly have here today.  There will be a cry of "what of the cost", if you wish bleeding edge technology of this magnitude then we do most certainly have to pay - though once more to reiterate - fast is what we certainly have here today. Therefore cost is most certainly not a factor anyone would care to consider in gaining the enormous bound in technology and performance output.    Intel have brought to the fore a combined magnificent set of components which will have many happy waiting purchasers lining the doors waiting to fill their pockets with the goodies.

It has to be reiterated time is money and the least hindrances in completing a monstrous render/redraw output, here is where the express well-groomed will win out.   The
Intel® Core™ i7-980X , this is the start of something phenomenal.
