Conclusions
Overall this server based platform produced by MSI has plenty of potential with many upgrade paths that have to be explored. Notwithstanding this bit of kit should be seriously thought about if you are looking for a good entry level range server. Acoustics we all here you yell, honestly it sat here purring away not off putting the daily usage of other equipment in the background. More often than not with items of this nature one has to move to another room to make yourself heard – this was not to be the case.

The results speak clearly for themselves; these are some of the fastest render outputs we have seen in sometime, especially just using a software output. Not only 6 months ago were we all aghast at seeing the 1 hour barrier being broken in Radiosity. How improvements have made life so much easier for the time restrained studio that has to meet the ever demanding stress of the client wanting their final scenes now. Theoretically speaking the software has improved with the advent of 3D Studio Max 9 as too the hardware, realistic time frames can be given to clients to meet their tight deadlines. With this aside could the client in turn become unrealistic in expecting more?

The outing of the new version of
Diskeeper 2007 Server  certainly made vast improvements upon the whole system once updates had been applied and Diskeeper applied. We saw nearly a huge 29 percent increase in performance from the system which is a massive amount to regain from such a simple configuration. We tested each render 4 times whilst the NEW! INVISITASKING™ feature was enabled to establish the factual claims that whilst running in the background no performance degeneration would be seen. The results from the renders out were approximately 1 – 2 seconds out from what has been shown above. These few seconds variance can be attributable to any number of sequences of events of the system. So the claims made by Diskeeper are actually factual and this is a product seriously to be considered for complete optimal performance.

Finally what more has to be said that this is one mainboard that has to be taken seriously from MSI. As  we went to print the current SRP pricing of the mainboard is approximately £350.00 Inc Vat. The mainboard maybe purchased from SCL Online here and should be available for the general public within the next week.

The fight for those exclusive server orders has become much tighter now.   Over the last year we have seen improvements upon what MSI can actually produce and now brings them formally into the league of the High Class players in this lucrative market.
