Conclusions and Award.
From our initial presentation and sneak
look we knew just by the visual outputs
witnessed that this was to be something
very special indeed. The tell tale
spin of the MAYA-03 Viewset, part of the
SPECviewperf® 11 benchmark running in
the back ground gave away so much to a
trained eye just how fast the redraws on
the viewset had been.
Positioning of the new Nvidia
Quadro®
6000 is going to be found within some of
the most demanding of studio's and
design centre's that require the
ultimate of output's. We mentioned
earlier with the
Nvidia
Quadro® 5000 article that the beta
driver was coming to fruition and it has
some interesting features to behold that
many will have not seen.
Notwithstanding, this is a card that
will have the studio's, architectural
companies and the other perceptive
professionals screaming for the want.
With todays ISV software packages for
example Max, Maya and SolidWorks so many
commercial plugin's are now readily
available to enhance the packages. With
this comes demands upon the whole system
I/O and the professional cards. In
order to meet the demands of these
packages the hardware and supporting
Application Acceleration Tools
have to be precise. To meet this
Nvidia has invested heavily with its
packages and CUDA development software
around the globe. The investment is
paying off with tremendous uptakes in
many arenas of the professional industry
- Medical, Oil and Gas, Science
and even the Financial houses have so
much to gain and we must note that this
is only the tip of the iceberg. Many
more sectors of industry are now leaping
onboard adopting the pathways open to
them. Some key primary examples are
companies most notably such as
The Foundry and their award wining
packages and
Bunkspeed
As we previously commented and first
advised of the cards impending arrival;
the brief covering the card and a very
good one at that, was it would be a
high-quality, high performer and we
would have seen nothing like it in a
long time. If we thought that the
Quadro® 5000 was something to behold,
then the Quadro® 6000 would have us
totally aghast to it's superb
performance levels surpassing the
Quadro® 5000 in many areas. How right
have Nvidia workstation team been. Its
difficult to stop reiterating; though
again watching the MAX and MAYA APC's is
very difficult to maintain as the speed
at which these are completed is without
doubt phenomenal. Words we are lost
for; as this truly is a huge leap in the
professional graphic's industry with the
expertise development that has sprung
out of NVIDIA's door. This is the most
momentous day within NVIDIA's history
both factually and on paper
giving many analysts the confidence they
have been looking for. Nvidia are
aggressively back with a line up of
professional cards that will over the
next few months cause so much
controversy. The raw power of these
new Quadro's demonstrating the most
significant technological advancement
within the professional graphic card
industry for quite some time. It goes
without saying that support from Tier 1
and 2 will be colossal and
notwithstanding the support from the S.I.'S
and VARS.
As we have demonstrated and whilst
supporting a beta driver the Quadro®
6000 has leap up through the scales.
In some areas we see a 50% increase, and
with an FSAA increase up to 64X - on
certain OEM systems with the cards in
SLI mode we will be able to see a
massive 128X FSAA. These are figures
that are beyond belief to the extreme
modeller, artist and architect, though
what it offers is that of utter
flexibility. But it doesn't stop here
as the compute power that the card has
to offer is without a doubt -
desirable. Medical, Oil and Gas,
Science and even the Financial houses
have so much to gain from this one card
and of course not
forgetting those other technical
professionals demanding nothing but the
best out from their workstations.
Much of this performance improvement is
down to the architecture of the new
product, some down to the driver team,
the unsung heroes that so many forget
about. The results shown within have
been extra-ordinary to say the
least. This card most certainly has
overtaken its predecessor in many ways,
faster memory and ECC capabilities, the
aid of 448 CUDA Cores - this will help
many in complex drawings and rendered
outputs. Life in the professional
graphics card market has just shifted up
directly into top gear. Today's article
has only been the tip of the iceberg.
As we have so much more to present to
you in the forth coming months. Side
stepping very quickly we must not forget
that an article of this magnitude has
been fully supported by the other
hardware vendors who put so much into
todays exclusives. Therefore our
thanks go to Supermicro, Crucial and
Intel for their expedited superb skilled
support.
The results shown within SPECviewperf®
11 have once more been astonishing
indeed. A notable scaling in many
areas and it goes once more to show how
much effort has gone into the driver
packages in the last few weeks. Again
we took notice indeed of the Quadro®
6000 driver stability and across the
board performance on both system
platforms. Maya taking the biggest leap
on our driver update, once more a
picture paints a thousand words. It is
very obvious even to the untrained eye
on how well tuned each run has returned
on the individual operating systems that
are quite different in so many aspects.
For those who still maintain the usage
of SPECviewperf® 10 there has to have
been some extreme surprises for you as
there was here. After some thought we
decided to give it one last run, just to
see and what a way to go, this is our
last outing on SPECviewperf® 10 as the
benchmark now has been retired. This
final result under Windows 7 will have
many aghast with awe at the power from
the Quadro® 6000.
The results shown speak very clearly for
themselves as a picture paints a
thousand words; consequently there was
absolutely no need for a running
commentary of the results gained from
each system. It has been one of those
events that we would have wished to have
shown more, but the clock ticked very
hard and fast against us as there is a
huge demand to see this excellent new
graphics card from NVIDIA. There is so
much it has to offer. Time really was
completely against us and we only had a
short few days to complete all from
fresh. For those not in the know, it
does take a considerable amount of time
to study and then cross check the
results several times. The most
demanding is that of a full FSAA run
which takes several hours to fully
complete and once more everything needs
to be cross checked. What is
conclusive; is that the base line tests
from
SPECviewperf® 11.0 have returned substantial amounts of indisputable results for
the Nvidia Quadro® 6000 which is
exceptional for a super Ultra High End
Solution
professional card of this magnitude.
Pricing and availability on going to
print. The Nvidia Quadro 6000 from the
beginning of October should be hitting
Resellers, S.I.'s and VAR's. It's
price should be in the region of
- $4,999 USD - £3265
UKP - €3866 Euro's, before shipping and
local taxes.
Therefore with what's hot off the press
will be scorching on the reseller's
plate. We do foresee an exceptional
high demand from what we have witnessed,
and bearing this in mind get the orders
in very quickly indeed to avoid
disappointment. As the rush will be on.
For those who
may have skipped some of the last
conclusions within the Quadro 5000 and
in concern of their current corporate
line up there are currently no plans to
stop producing the Quadro® FX5800 and
will continue to be sold along with the
new line up. However what has been seen
today with the performance output and
aggressive pricing, then there should be
no hesitation at all in swiftly
upgrading to the new Quadro® 6000 card.
The time and investment into such
an extraordinary key component has been
huge more than anyone will know, but all
the analysts alike will be watching very
closely to the markets reaction, which
we deem will be favourable. There is
such an amount to
much to gain with so little effort. The
Quadro® 6000 is a card which demands and
deserves reverence.
We have taken 2 systems
encompassed the new NVIDIA Quadro® 6000
that soon will be readily found within
all studio's and workplaces if they are
not there already. The Quadro® 6000
performance shown within, is without a
doubt on all the platforms superb, no
more can the cry of we need more power
and speed. Well it's here. In the
interim, those who cannot wait "the
need for speed" is here without a
doubt. "Fast is good and Fast is what
we want", therefore in these scenarios
shown within, fast is what you have most
certainly got. The results
obtained just before launch on both 3ds
MAX and Maya APC's; these will be posted as soon as
we have verification of their
composites. To reiterate; this is
the marketers dream come true in every
aspect of today's product shown. Can
we get any faster, only time will tell
as the software packages from the ISV's
catch-up and true to these words they
are indeed.
Final comments and predictions on the
way ahead, what has been observed within
today has been exceptional and all
within NVIDIA's HQ will be extremely
pleased with themselves and we are sure
that the champagne corks will be firing
out with delight. It's been some time
since a product of this magnitude has
hit the streets and for the customers
that left, many will come rushing back.
It takes a very special kind of magic to
put all this together.
After all, we
have witnessed today one of the most
noble demonstrations of complete raw
compute and graphical power from just
one GPU.
Therefore after many months maintaining
the lead, ATI® has now lost out to
NVIDIA®. Not only have Nvidia® regained
the most important Golden Laurel Crown
in the bitterly fought Ultra High End
place; but swiftly added in another
Editors Choice in the Super Ultra
High-End Professional Workstation Card
category - quite unheard of here
and a
magnificent feat.
As we stated within our article
today of the Quadro® 5000 and reaffirm
our final quote for the Quadro® 6000.
"Not by strength, by guile. The futures
bright, the futures Quadro". |
