EXCLUSIVE - AKASA REVO HEAT SINK FAN
For years now we have seen many different heatsink fans winging there way through the doors here and some have held the test of time most, though end up winging their way into the scrap pile never to be used again.

Not so with the case of Akasa products, we have been strong advocates of their products as in the mission critical systems we use for reviews, we have to use the best to gain and maintain optimal performance with the professional graphic cards, system mainboards and memory. To date not one product from Akasa has yet to fail us and each new Heatsink fan that arrives invariably replaces the latter that has been sent due to the high quality quiet units that they make. Today is no different with the arrival of the new Akasa REVO.

This is an interesting product with a design and build that is so simple it shocked us into thinking “why has no-one ever thought of this before”! Why is it so, let’s firstly have a look at the concept behind this marvellous piece of equipment with the help of Akasa’s PR department as it most certainly simplifies it all to the most basic reader.
This is a totally new class of CPU cooler powered by thermodynamic ‘bubble-pump’ technology. Revo promises noiseless cooling and high thermal performance. Bubble-pumps are liquid and gas, and are highly efficient at transferring heat (they have no moving parts).

Heat is transported rapidly by a dual-component fluid along a hermetically sealed circuit to an aluminium radiator with hundreds of fine-fins. Each fin is micro-profiled to maximise heat dissipation. Eight multiports, each with eight capillary tubes, evenly distributes heat throughout the radiator where it is dispersed by cool air from a 92mm slow moving smart fan. The radiator provides a remarkable 1400cm square of surface area for cooling. Transfer and dissipation of heat is fast and highly efficient. Due to the high thermal efficiency of the heatsink the fan operates at low speeds. Fan noise is effectively eliminated. Vents in the fan-mount direct cool air to surrounding components—motherboard, VRMs, chipset. The fan mount has cushion dampers.

REVO is lightweight, only 330g, and can be easily fitted tool-free. REVO is for anyone who wants a low noise PC without compromising thermal performance. REVO is dual platform for either AMD or Intel. In certified Thermal Testing Vehicles (AMD and Intel) the heatsink technology constantly outperformed other coolers.

REVO bears a strong European identity: technology from Denmark, product development and marketing from the UK, manufacturing in France by a German company famous for automotive engineering, Behr GmbH & Co KG. The Akasa REVO has been developed by Akasa (Europe) who have a proven track record in the design and development of innovative high-performance coolers. At the heart of the heatsink is SilentFlux™ a patented technology from Noise Limit, a Danish technology start-up founded in 2003. SilentFlux® utilises a unique dual-component coolant to drive the bubble pump.

How REVO works

REVO uses SilentFlux® (patented) technology.

1 Heat is absorbed from the CPU into a chamber which stores a specially designed dual-component liquid-coolant

2 From the CPU chamber heat moves to the radiator along the up-pipe of a
hermetically sealed circuit. The specially designed dual-component liquid-coolant acts as a bubble pump to force the heat rapidly to the radiator

3 Heat is dispersed from the radiator by a 92mm fan rotating at low speed

4 The dual-component coolant is cooled by the airflow from the fan and returns along the down-pipe of the hermetically sealed circuit to the chamber for another round

With this explanation complete lets have a look at some pictures we have gathered from our test units to enlighten the faint hearted.
