Set-Up, Software Used and Preliminary Benchmarks
The next question is what system do we test this from?  To get the ultimate performance we dug out our supersonic Skulltrail system with its Dual 3.2GHz Extreme Xeons.  So, in theory a system that should stretch the Caviar Black fully.

The object of this article is not to test the actual test system and it must be made abundantly clear from the onset, but the actual hard disc.  So those viewers out there that are looking for additional tests of the actual system in its other performance factors should contact directly the Administrator at 3D Professor and we will in turn get the results out to you as quickly as possible.

PC Mark 2005

What is noticeable is how the benchmark has rated the Primary Hard Disc write facility coming in at a very respectable 92.748MB/s.  This score most certainly puts the Hard Disc up with some of the fastest 3 ½” Discs and its VelociRaptor sibling from the Western Digital range.

Physical Disc – Drive Index of 79.66MB/s with a Random access time of 12ms
File System – Drive Index 87.34MB/s with an amazing Random access time of 6ms.
